Previous / Standing Gallery / Next
Trivikrama ("three strides") is the name of a dwarf form of Vishnu, who grew to bestride the universe in three giant steps.
Progression
Raise your leg into a standing straddle split, so that the raised leg is to your side, held there by the sameside elbow behind the knee and the oppositeside hand at the high foot
Variation 1
Standing frontsplit.
Variation 2
Reach both arms behind your back and clasp them, so your raised leg is encircled and captured by them in Bird of Paradise, a "standing bound split" (baddha trivikramasana, baddha="bound").
Progression
From a stance with legs apart, bend forward, clasp arms around one leg and raise it up as you straighten up, until your torso is nearly erect and the raised foot skypoints.
