Uttan="stretched out." This is a progressive pose, with pauses at each step. Begin in Tadasana, arms raised high.
Bend forward 90º, holding your arms stretched straight forward in line with your torso, palms together.
Bend farther, placing your hands on your knees...
...then on your ankles...
...then palms to the floor...
...then kick one leg up high...
...then reaching back behind your legs and clasping your knees from the rear...
...and then bring your hands forward through your legs to clasp their opposite side shins.
