Akarna="up to the ear"+dhanu="bow," as of a bow whose string is drawn back to the archer's ear.
Progression: Begin in Dandasana. Take one foot in both hands and pull its heel back and into your belly.
PART 2: Then lift the foot up with both hands...
PART 3: Then bring the raised foot across the body and touch its toes to the opposite ear.
PART 4: Use both arms to raise the outstretched leg high and straight beside its sameside ear.
Final Pose: Then move the raised leg heel to its sameside ear.
